March, 2025 - Nick O'Brien joins the lab
Nick O'Brien, a first year graduate student in the Development, Disease Models, and Therapeutics Graduate Program, joined the lab. Nick is an MSTP student who has already completed his first two years of medical school at Baylor College of Medicine.

Dr. Woodfield won first prize for her talk titled "NRF2 activity drives metastatic dissemination in hepatoblastoma"
January, 2025 - NCI Division of Cancer Biology New Grantee Workshop
Dr. Woodfield was invited to attend the NCI DCB New Grantee Workshop at the NCI Shady Grove Campus.

Priyanka Rao was awarded the John J. Trentin Scholarship Award for her academic achievements during the first two years of graduate school!

Priyanka Rao presented her poster titled "Cell alterations that drive vascular invasion and dissemination in pediatric liver cancer" in Toronto, Canada.
July, 2024 - Dr. Brian Hickner joins the lab
Dr. Brian Hickner, a resident in the BCM Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery General Surgery Residency Program, joined the Woodfield lab.

Priyanka Rao presented an oral talk titled "An indocyanine green-based liquid biopsy test for circulating tumor cells for pediatric liver cancer" and won the award for the Best Quick Shot Presentation by a Student.
Dr. Andy Espinoza presented an oral talk and won the award for the Best Quick Shot Presentation by a Resident or Fellow.
May, 2024 - BCM Department of Surgery Research in Excellence Travel Award
Priyanka Rao won this prestigious travel award, which will fund her travel to the AACR Special Conference in Cancer Research: Advances in Pediatric Cancer Research in September, 2024.
May, 2024 - New Frontiers in Liquid Biopsies: Data, Technology, and Translational Potential (NIH)
